Current Research Topics & Future Work |
My current research focuses on the mitigation of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (i.e., CH4 and N2O from rice paddy soils and N2O from upland crop systems) and soil carbon sequestrations, including carbon protection mechanisms (i.e., physical protection via soil aggregation and chemical protection via Fe/Al co-precipitation and clay adsorption) from the agricultural cropping systems. Our group is also developing a soil carbon monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) protocol and a carbon credit project based on nature-based solutions, such as carbon farming via regenerative agriculture. For future research, we will explore more ecosystem services (ESs), such as soil health, biodiversity, nutrient leaching, etc., from the agroecosystem and improve these ESs for not only achieving the UN sustainable development goals (SDGs) but agricultural sustainability. |
